From this course, I learned that it is very important to slow down and take my time to really pay attention to the details and understand each part of the assignment objectives. At times, I found myself reading the instructions out loud to make sure that I was getting all the details. Professor Wu was extremely helpful through the course because he was always available to help when needed. It was really refreshing to have a Professor who was 100% supportive and provided multiple opportunities to earn the best accomplishment possible (as long as you wanted it for yourself)!
This last phase of IS101 was all about PowerPoint. It was definitely the quickest and easiest phase of them all. We learned all about the best practices to create, design, and present a PowerPoint slideshow. One thing that was completely new to me was from 6.5.1 - Slide Masters. I had no idea that there was a feature that allowed you to customize the layout of the slides that would be used as a template for all other slides you added to the presentation. I have not used it yet, but I can definitely see the benefit of how this feature would save a lot of time when creating slideshows. While we did create slideshows to present earlier in this course (some images from mine are attached to this post), I don't think slide masters would have been very helpful because it was so short. I see this really only benefitting longer slideshows.
All of the course material and requirements are completed (including my newly earned PowerPoint certification). Now I get to focus on my extra accomplishments, like getting my Expert Word and Excel certifications... wish me luck!

Hey Katelyn, I agree that the professor was very helpful and engaging. I really appreciated the text reminders and the emails. This class was tough, but in the end it was definitely worth it.
ReplyDeleteHey Katelyn, I learned so many new things about Butterflies from your presentation. As an example, I never knew that Butterflies traveled for two months. It was enticing to learn these new facts about Butterflies.
ReplyDeleteHi Katelyn! I underestimated this class too and thought it would be easy, but it definitely turned out to be a challenge. Overall, it was worth it in the end, I’m glad I got to be part of such a great and engaging class. I really enjoyed your Monarch Butterfly presentation! I’ve only been to the butterfly exhibit at the Springs Preserve, but I hope to visit more in the future. Good luck with earning your Word Expert and Excel Expert certifications, you got this!
ReplyDeleteHi Katelyn,
ReplyDeleteI was right there with you in the same boat. I didn’t really know what to expect and thought it might be an easy A. But like you, I was definitely wrong! There was a lot of material to cover, but what really helped was having Professor Wu. He was super supportive and always available when we needed help. Good luck on your Expert exams, I know you’ll do great!
Hii Katelyn!! I know you will not need luck for your MOS exams, you will simply knock it out the park! Yeah, I totally agree, Professor Wu had a way of making things thorough, I also found myself constantly checking the instructions in case I missed something (I still would lol). But as thorough as he was, he was also so helpful too. I unfortunately missed your presentation, but I do hope you get to go to Mexico and see the butterflies. My best friend tells me that the best thing about living in Mexico was the amount of butteflies he saw. I am wish you the absolute best in all your future endeavors!
ReplyDeleteIS101 is very detail-oriented and makes you use your critical thinking skills. Which I am still developing to this day. I believe you did very well in this class, and still had 3 other classes, besides this one is no easy task.
ReplyDeleteThe professor will be a person whom I will not forget easily, and I have a bad memory when it comes to face recognition or names, but with the way he taught this class, I learned more than just computer skills, but also how to elevate my performance and standard.
I do hope you got your Expert Excel certificate, you deserve it! I tried twice and was not successful. I feel like if I paced myself a little better and had 1 more week to study, I could have passed.
I thought it’d be an easy A too, but it turned out to be a lot more detailed and structured than expected. I also had to slow down and really focus on the instructions, especially during the assignments.. Congrats on finishing strong and earning your PowerPoint certification!
ReplyDeleteThe instructor was a big help keeping us on course and up to date on assignments.
ReplyDeleteThe slide master was very helpful in setting up presentations and I wish I had known about it sooner.
Yes! It was such a surprise but a pleasant one that this class was a little bit more challenging, if it wouldn't be like that, we would have never learned anything!
ReplyDeleteHi, this class was definitely structured in a way that critical thinking and good time management were needed! Glad you finished and wish you the best!
ReplyDeleteHey Katelyn,
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed reading your final blog post! It's impressive how you navigated the complexities of IS101, especially while juggling three other classes. Your dedication to understanding the details and your proactive approach to assignments truly paid off.
Discovering the Slide Master feature in PowerPoint is a game-changer, isn't it? It streamlines the creation of presentations and ensures consistency throughout.
Congratulations on earning your PowerPoint certification! ^-^
